1. Mentaid is registered under The West Bengal Society Registration Act, XXVI of 1961 and the registration number is S/52819 of 1986-87. Mentaid’s books of accounts are regularly statutorily audited by Registered Chartered Accountants.

2. Mentaid is registered u/s 12A of the Income Tax Act 1961 and has exemption u/s 80G valid upto assessment year 2008-09 to 2010-11 for donors and sponsors.

3. Mentaid is exempt from payment of Income Tax u/s 143(1) (a) of Income Tax Act 1961 and has been accorded an Account Number DDIT (E)-II /481-M/ Cal.

4. Mentaid is registered under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976 u/s 6 (1) (a) and the registration number is 147110533.

5. Mentaid is registered under the State of West Bengal Act u/s 52 (2) & (4) of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act 1995 and the number is 60(117) – COM.

6. Mentaid is registered under The National Trust Act 1999 (For the welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities). The registration number is 2504/MR/ 2001.

7. Mentaid is recognised by The National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), Secunderabad.

8. Inclusion International, (The International Body of Parents Organisations), published an article on Mentaid, in their newsletter ‘Inclusion’, and chose the Chairperson of Mentaid to co-chair the Kolkata Round Table Conference held in Kolkata in April 2002.

9. Mentaid was chosen as one of only three projects in the country as an example of Good Practice. The study was conducted jointly by Inclusion International and Parivaar (The National Federation of Parents Associations), and presented at the National Workshop held at Bangalore on 01.02.2006.

10. The Annual Award was given to Mentaid by Shabana Azmi, noted activist and M.P, for outstanding contribution for the development of the mentally challenged, on behalf of The Ladies Study Group Charitable Trust, on 25th March 2006.

11. Our Chairperson is presently the General Secretary of Parivaar – W.B., the State Federation of Parents’ Organisations and the Zonal Secretary (Jharkhand, Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal) of Parivaar -NFPA (The National Federation of Parents Associations).

12. Mentaid has obtained academic recognition from G.O.I Mass Education Extension Department. The registration number is 603/MEE/Sectt./3S-31/2003.

13. Mentaid was recognized on World Disability Day, on 3rd December 2007, with an award for ‘Best Parents’ Organisation by Government of West Bengal for their dedicated service for the cause of disabilities.

14. ICC Calcutta Foundation bestowed the Special Merit Award to Mentaid for their project on Global Warming, a competition open to all regular and special schools on 02.02.2008.
